Calli Glover
Outstanding Grade 12 Female Athlete Diane Murphy Award Calli closes our her senior Varsity year as an integral member of our Senior Girls Volleyball, Basketball and Netball teams. Her leadership was seen both on the court as well as within our RAC Student Athletic Council group assisting in the mentorship of our younger referees and RAC students. |
Hadie Honardoust & Devon Sandhu
Male Sportsmanship 12 Bill McKercher Award Both Hadie and Devon were both full time members of our Varsity family. Hadie's accomplishments include being an integral member of our RAC Student Athletic Council, manager of our Senior Girls Volleyball team as well as player for our Senior Boys Basketball, Rugby and Ball Hockey teams. Devon was a three-sport athlete competing on our Senior Boys Soccer, Wrestling, Rugby and Ball Hockey teams. Hadie and Devon both represented our school with pride and care on their various teams and epitomized the definition of being a student-athlete. |
Mernin Anne Orogo & Larizel Sugue
Female Sportsmanship 12 Florence Peterson Award Both Mernin and Larziel were Senior Executive members of our RAC Student Athletic Council providing leadership and support towards our program and younger members. Both played on our Senior Girls Volleyball team, while Mernin also played on our Senior Girls Basketball team. Mernin also provided support as a manager for our Senior Boys Rugby team. Both were instrumental in establishing our Athletic Program's online social media presence. |
Amaan Pawa & Graciella Llagas
Administration / Sportsmanship Ability in Sports Ernie Fletcher Award Amaan and Graciella have been the backbone of our RAC Student Athletic Council being integral members for the duration of their five-year high school careers. Both of these ladies have gone above and beyond to provide support, mentorship and leadership to their peers and our younger RAC members. Their unconditional support and positivity lead them to become the heart of our entire program. |
Justin Torres
Outstanding Male Grade 11 Athlete Don Moore Award Justin was a key contributor on our Varsity Basketball & Rugby teams, while working as our lead official for senior Varsity Volleyball games. A quiet leader who boasts a warm heart and big smile; Justin will be one of RAC Executives for his upcoming senior year. |
Andrea Sugue
Outstanding Grade 11 Female Athlete Sue Mathie Award Andrea wins this award a year after her elder sister, Larizel did for the 2015/2016 academic year. Andrea was an immense presence on our Senior Girls Volleyball and Basketball teams, while officiating volleyball games for our younger teams. Andrea has followed in the footsteps of our RAC executives in providing constant positivity and leadership towards our younger members. |
Stephanie Zaborniak
Outstanding Female Grade 10 Athlete Award Cameron Fung Dave Milne Outstanding Grade 10 Male Athlete Award Stephanie was three-season athlete, competing on our Cross Country, Senior Girls Basketball and Track teams. Known as Steph the Chef, Stephanie combined her positive energy along with her fierce competitive nature to become a team leader. Cameron competed on our Cross Country and Senior Boys Volleyball teams as well as helped coach our Grade 8 Boys Volleyball team. His efforts were worth of the newly renamed award, honoring the late coach and Burnaby South teacher, Mr. Dave Milne. |
Laini Glover & Anthony Yu
Outstanding Grade 9 Female & Male Athlete Award This is Laini's second consecutive athlete of the year award, as she played key roles on our Grade 9 Girls Volleyball, Basketball and track teams. Her quiet demeanor never gets in the way with her fierce competitive drive to succeed. We are proud to have her join our RAC family next year. Anthony wins his award from his time spent playing on our Grade 9 Boys Basketball and Volleyball teams. His team-first mentality has quickly gained the trust and respect of his team-mates and our Athletic program. |
Diya Sehgal & Issac Lovendino
Outstanding Female & Male Grade 8 Athletes Both of these athletes follow in the footsteps of their elder siblings who are recent South graduates Diya (Akhil) and Issac (Josh). Both of these winners are much alike to their elder siblings whereby they have an intense competitive nature that is surrounded by a wealth of generosity, positivity and pride. Both were members of our Grade 8 Volleyball and Basketball teams respectively and both were actively involved in our RAC events becoming honorary members while in their Grade 8 year. |
